Bold Films is an independent production and film finance company launched in 2004 with the mission to produce talent-driven, studio-quality films. This institution targets films that have potentially worldwide commercial appeal which we found would be suited to our media product as we aim to project our horror opening globally without the extra hassle of being with an international production institution. Moreover, recent films that have been distributed by this institution are Only God Forgives, directed by Nicolas Refn another being Drive, that both star big names such as Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan. This therefore would be ideal for our media product as the institution will have customer loyalty for fans of these previous films that will entice them into viewing our film, gaining a larger mass audience.
In addition, many films distributed by this institution have gone on to achieve many high up awards such as Best Director Award at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival as well as receiving accolades from the BAFTA Awards and The Golden Globes. Therefore our film has a high success rate and is more likely to be recognised for awards with this institution without the pressure of it being international but still possessing the potential to go global.
In terms of the films that this institution has released, their main focus seems to be of the thriller genre which of course is fitting for our film being of the same genre, therefore fits in with this institutions style. Moreover, they are working on two films at the moment that will include aspects of the psychological thriller genre that therefore shares a common theme with our film, again being an example of Bold Films being a suitable institution to release our film.
